Why Cerulith

What Sets Our Voyages Apart

Knowledgeable Crew

Our captains and guides know these waters well — the reefs, the currents, and the quieter spots that make each voyage feel personal rather than packaged.

Comfortable Vessels

Our yachts are maintained to a high standard — stable in open water, well-equipped for snorkeling and overnight stays, and designed for ease of movement aboard.

Responsible Sailing

We operate with care for Sabah's marine environment — following park regulations, briefing guests on reef etiquette, and keeping group sizes small enough to matter.

Onboard Catering

Meals and refreshments are prepared fresh — fresh seafood at sea, chilled drinks throughout the day, and a proper dinner on overnight passages.

Small Group Sizes

We keep numbers low by design. Fewer guests means quieter anchorages, more attentive crew, and a pace that lets everyone actually relax.

Safety & Compliance

All vessels hold current Maritime Malaysia certification. Safety briefings are thorough, life-saving equipment is current, and our crew includes certified first aiders.

Common Questions

Before You Set Sail

What is the best time of year to sail around Kota Kinabalu?
Sabah's west coast is generally calmest between March and October, with April through August typically offering the clearest visibility for snorkeling. The northeast monsoon season (November to February) can bring choppier conditions, though shorter island-hop trips often still operate on settled days. We're happy to advise based on your dates.
Do I need prior sailing or snorkeling experience?
No experience is needed for any of our voyages. Our crew will brief you on snorkeling basics if required, and the yacht remains anchored in calm, sheltered waters during swimming stops. Guests who prefer to stay on deck are equally welcome — there's no obligation to get in the water.
How many people are typically on each voyage?
We keep our group sizes intentionally small — typically between four and twelve guests, depending on the voyage type. Private charters for smaller groups or families can also be arranged; contact us to discuss options.
What should I bring on a voyage?
We recommend comfortable, lightweight clothing, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. Snorkeling equipment is provided — you're welcome to bring your own if you prefer a personal fit. For overnight voyages, pack light as cabin storage is compact; a soft bag rather than a hard suitcase works best.
Are dietary requirements catered for onboard?
Yes — let us know about any dietary needs when you book. Our galley team can accommodate vegetarian preferences and most common allergies with reasonable notice. We're based in Malaysia, so halal options are standard practice.
What is your policy if the weather is unsuitable on the day?
Guest safety is our primary consideration. If conditions are genuinely unsafe, we will contact you as early as possible to discuss rescheduling options. We monitor weather carefully and will always communicate transparently rather than sailing in conditions we consider inadvisable.
