Kuala Lumpur · Island Hop

"We did the island hop with four friends — none of us are big snorkelers, but the crew made it easy to get in the water without feeling pressured. The stops were long enough to actually enjoy each island, not just pose for a photo and move on. The refreshments were good. Would do it again."

Germany · Reef Expedition

"The Mantanani trip was the highlight of our month in Malaysia. We saw two sea turtles very close, the coral was undamaged and colourful, and the guide's knowledge was impressive — she pointed out things we'd have completely missed. The seafood lunch was excellent. Dolphins on the way back, which nobody told us to expect."

Singapore · Overnight Voyage

"We booked the overnight voyage for our anniversary. It was quite unlike anything we've done before — the silence at anchor, the dinner under the lights, the mud volcano the next morning. The cabin is compact — I'd say this honestly — but the mattress was comfortable and we slept well. The overall experience was something we'll talk about for years."

Kota Kinabalu · Island Hop

"We're locals — we've been to these islands before on the usual speedboats. This was genuinely different. Smaller group, the yacht is comfortable to sit on rather than clinging to the side, and the crew actually explains what you're looking at. We'll come back for the Mantanani trip next."

France · Reef Expedition

"I've dived in many places across Southeast Asia, and these reefs hold up. The guide was well-informed — not just names but behaviour, the relationship between species, how the reef has changed. The day was paced sensibly. I appreciated that nobody was rushed or herded. An honest recommendation."

Penang · Overnight Voyage

"My husband and I went for the overnight voyage not knowing quite what to expect. The crew was calm and professional without being overly formal. Dinner was genuinely good — they had accommodated my no-shellfish preference without a fuss. The sunrise from the deck at anchor near Pulau Tiga was worth the trip by itself."

The Situation

Corporate Group — Mixed Experience Levels

A Kota Kinabalu-based company arranged a day out for twelve staff members, ranging from enthusiastic swimmers to people who had never snorkeled. They wanted something accessible but not condescending.

How It Unfolded

Cerulith arranged an adapted Island Hop: those who wanted to snorkel were fully briefed and equipped; those who preferred to stay on the yacht watched from deck with drinks in hand. The crew adjusted the pace at each island without any group member feeling sidelined.

The Result

Seven of the twelve said it was the most enjoyable company outing they'd attended. Two of those who stayed dry on the first trip booked a personal Reef Expedition three weeks later. The group has since arranged two further voyages.

The Situation

Solo Traveller — First Time in Sabah

A solo traveller from South Korea joined a shared Reef Expedition. She had limited English and had contacted Cerulith tentatively, unsure whether a yacht trip would feel welcoming for someone travelling alone.

How It Unfolded

The crew was attentive without being intrusive. She was welcomed into the rhythm of the group naturally, and the marine guide provided visual cues alongside verbal explanations at each reef stop. By afternoon she was chatting freely with other guests.

The Result

She returned to Cerulith the following day to ask about the Overnight Voyage and booked it on the spot for her extended Sabah stay. She has since referred two friends who visited KK the following month.
